When I reflect on the past year, I realize the many lessons that came my way. One of which has been the stark awareness of my unconscious tendency to think that things are a certain way. The way I want and expect them to be. In many areas of my life, I have been jolted and awakened to other realities and truths. Truths that I would have liked to deny and dismiss.
Maybe this is what upheaval and change is all about. Its perfect ability to make us uncomfortable enough to move out of the illusionary current of complacency and assumption.
Maybe we are meant to be always on our toes. Taking in all of what routinely passes our way with fresh vision. Seeing and feeling beyond the brains tendency to blur reality like a bowl of oatmeal, into a bland blend of consistency.
This morning as I walked in the darkness just before sunrise, I asked myself, my deeper, wise self, where do I go from here? What little piece of something is my soul yearning that I acknowledge and give more life and breath to?
My soul must have been waiting for this invitation as it immediately answered.
“Live a little higher. Camp out in an enlightened perspective. Seek the clarity that comes when you let go of your stubborn desire to replace what has been lost and corral past unfulfilled wants and needs into you life. In a nutshell, up your vibration, girl. And take some others along in the process.
Of course, the soul rarely, if ever, gives a satisfying logical step by step on these things. We are left to muddle along on the lookout for the little openings where we feel more alive and our lungs expand, our bodies relax and stretch and we feel that essential intangible something that is waiting.
In this coming year, my plan is to live a little higher. Shorten the span between heaven and my everyday routines and awareness. This is where the magic happens. Along with it comes all kinds of good stuff, health, harmony, abundance and fulfilling connections.
I hope you join me on this journey. By session, class, book or in spirit. I would love the company.
We are being led. There is a presence moving through our heart, mind and soul that guides and directs us. Meaningful coincidences or synchronisities, open us to new insights and help us to understand ourselves and what is happening around us in new ways. Synchronicity is intuition expressed in the outer world.
Synchronisities are no accident. The universe has carefully orchestrated the seemingly impossible convergences of things, people, events and conditions. It does not matter how great or small the coincidence may be. We immediately recognize when we intersect with the cosmic. Although others may not always be able to feel and see it, when we are touched by the transcendent, we know it. The heart smiles, the mind opens and like an olympian gymnast, the soul joyously flips and leaps.
Synchronisities provide us with a glimpse into a reality that we have forgotten. They speak to the authentic self that is comfortable and at home in the realm of cosmic truth. Yet, despite the powerful affect that a synchronicity can have on us, we all too soon attempt to dumb it down by rationalization. We want to creep back into the logical and rational, as if the cosmic doors had not flung open. The thinking mind wants to take charge and explain away the magic and unexplainable, Don’t let it. Live with the mystery and allow it to flow through the mind, body and spirit like a healing balm. Synchronisities invite us to experience life through the cosmic portal of connection and oneness. Soak in the deep rays of the universal life force current and allow it to promote and support aspects of self that we may not always have the courage to know. Here are some suggestions that can help to increase the flow of synchronisities.
Simple, but true, when we ask for synchronisities, we experience them. As we let go of our expectations of how and when they occur, they naturally flow into our life in surprising ways. Just make the intent and allow the universe to manifest it.
How ever big, small or insignificant they may seem to be, the effect that a synchronicity has on our heart and soul is what matter. When we notice synchronisities and embrace for them, they multiply.
Imagine synchronisities as a form or communication with the universe. We don’t always notice when divine presence is answering and responding to our needs and requests. Synchronisities let us know that we are known and heard. They are a calling card informing us that we are being watched over and that we are in the flow of our soul’s current.
Synchronisities alert us to possibilities and open us to higher wisdom and love. Noticing and acting on them strengthens our soul energy and guides us into the positive. Even though life can at times, be challenging, synchronisities remind us that unexpected good fortune can come to us to in surprising ways.
Live with the awareness that a wonderful personally crafted surprise is on its way. Say, thank you, blow a big kiss and dance with the cosmic flow of the all that is. The positive and abundant energy of universal divine joy and creativity is available, wherever we are and in whatever we are doing.
Your intuition is an integral aspect of your core self. Along the journey of uncovering and claiming your authentic self, your intuition will increase. To varying degrees you may experience some of the common characteristics of intuitively sensitive people. These include, feeling other’s emotions as your own, knowing what others are thinking and having spontaneous insight into other’s health, issues and problems.
Here are a few other shared intuitive tendencies.
Feel and See Spirit Presence
Do you ever see orbs, a glow of energy around another or streaks of light? Do you ever feel that you are not alone? Have you ever felt a touch on your shoulder or hand, a warm embrace or waves of coolness or warmth? These are often signs that you are in the presence of a loving spirit. Trust your intuition. If you feel as if a family member, angel or spirit presence is with you offering love and support, try not to get caught up in doubt and questioning yourself. Feel the presence and listen and tune into any messages your may receive.
Have Premonitions of Personal and Global Events
Have you ever known when something was going to happen? Can you look at another and know their character? Have you ever felt feelings of fear, stress or grief and a day or so later a natural disaster or large scale tragedy has occurred?
Intuitively sensitive people are precognitive. You may not always know what, when and where an event will take place, but you may feel and know that something is off or is going to happen. Quite often, the emergence of sudden and intense emotions, only make sense several days later when a positive or tragic event takes place.
Oftentimes your intuition will first surface through your dreams. Because dreams are usually metaphoric and symbolic in nature, it is not always clear which dreams contain intuitive insight. If you suspect that you are having dreams that foretell future events or provide you with previously unknown information about others or events, write them down. Keep a journal of your dreams and be alert to events and experiences that confirm a dream’s content.
Heightened Awareness with all Five Senses.
Bright lights, noise, smells and even tactical sensations can be irritating and over stimulating. For instance: Artificial lighting might give you a headache. While others might enjoy the scent of a fragrance or perfume, you may feel overwhelmed and lightheaded or dizzy from it. You become anxious at the sound constant or loud noise. You need periods of silence and quiet to relax and unwind. You prefer wearing all cotton or other natural fibers. Polyester and other man-made fiber clothing can cause you to itch, scratch or break out.
Sensitive to Others Needs
You know when others are in pain, sad, depressed, struggling and what will help them. You are often drawn to those who are in need and have the knack of saying exactly what they need to hear. You are caring, warmhearted and sensitive to the needs of others. Oftentimes you would rather suffer than see those around you in pain.
Feel tired, Exhausted and May Have Trouble Sleeping
Sometimes it all becomes too much. You may feel overwhelmed by this chaotic, overstimulating and demanding world, but you do not always know how to take care of yourself. When you should be resting and recharging during sleep, you may instead be restless and toss and turn. If you are an open intuitive receptacle, other’s thoughts and feelings, may pour in while you sleep. In an effort to shut out the demands of others and decrease your sensitivity to your environment, you may try to shut down and cut yourself off from your innate sensitivities. Unfortunately, this may only increase your feelings of exhaustion and inner stress.
Have Spiritual Depth
You may not be religious or follow a particular spiritual path, yet you have a sense of knowing and connection to a greater force of love and wisdom. While others may discuss and theorize about the existence of a God or spiritual force, you may not want to join in. Your sense of spirituality is lived and experienced. You are likely to notice opportunities to act in kind and loving ways to others. You give more than you ask for and expect from others. In your heart and soul you know that your life has purpose. You may not always know what it is, but you know that you are here to be of service to others and the world.
If you are intuitively sensitive it is important to acknowledge, accept and learn how to use this innate gift for your highest good. Instead of being intuitively bombarded by the energy of others and the environment, you can instead, personally benefit and be a light of insight and service to others.
From the book: Discover Your Authentic Self, Take A Look
Things fall apart. No matter how hard we try, not everything goes the way we hoped and planned. Even when we know that disaster is looming, we cannot always prevent it. People disappoint us and do things that we do not like. We may be comfortable, feel safe and secure in the day to day ups and downs that come our way and still a surprising and unexpected event can occur and turn everything upside down. Sometimes it is not a personal problem or issue of our own that causes us distress. A friend, partner, family member, co-worker, neighbor or your community or nation, confronts a misfortunate or challenge. Yet, we find ourselves as stressed and worried as if this problem was our own. Not being able to control or effectively change a situation for another can generate feelings of powerless.
Try not to blame yourself or others or become bitter when things fall apart. This is a part of life that we will never escape. No matter what you do, how safe you play it and how intelligent and competent you are, you will at one time or another experience unexpected change. Problems get solved, but only temporarily. Other or similar ones will crop up.
When misfortune knocks on our door and rattles us to the core, there may be little left of the life that we have known. Loss of a job, a devastating health condition, divorce, financial bankruptcy or the death of a loved one, not only changes our circumstances, they can also change the way we perceive ourselves. If we recoil in fear, we feel defensive and at the mercy of a cruel fate. However, if we make space in our lives to accommodate the inevitable, we can gain a sense of mastery and strength from our challenges.
When change comes your way, you can close down in fear or you can feel the depths of your emotions and allow them to soften you. Your safety and serenity does not come about by avoiding and controlling the flow of life. Instead, you can discover calmness in the midst of the storm by accepting what is happening and embracing your feelings.
Be in present time. When you find yourself, stressing and troubled by problems and challenges, breathe and acknowledge the good that is present and be open to perceiving what is happening with a new awareness and perspective. Don’t let your concerns for the future and pain from the past, cause you to imagine the worst. Take it one step at a time, being ever mindful that challenges call forward hidden, but potent aspects of your authentic self. Even though problems may initially seem overwhelming, you can discover a strength and compassion that you did not know you had. Distressing turn of events are often a calling card from your authentic self letting you know that you are capable of so much more than you may think.
From the book, Discover Your Authentic Self
It is Friday Aug. 26th, 2011 and hurricane Irene is scheduled to pay NC a visit in about twenty four hours. Although the course that she is on will not directly impact me, we will most likely get some wind and rain. I have been through a few hurricanes here in NC. The most dramatic of which was, Floyd who caused major damage on my house and left me without power for almost two weeks.
As I contemplated Irene’s upcoming visit yesterday it occurred to me to shift my perspective on how I can view what is to come. I thought wouldn’t it be interesting if I felt fortunate for this storm instead of nervous and anxious. What if, those of us along the East Coast were being given the opportunity to release and let go of all that we no longer need. I could use her force to blow into the heavens all of my negativity, anger, fear, anything and everything that is impeding my ability to love self and others. She could be a powerful ally in wiping the slate clean. I need a fresh start. I have been though a bit emotionally in the past few years and I want my heart to be swept clean. What better help then a category 3 or 4 hurricane.
My intent is to churn up within me all that no longer serves me and with Irene’s help let it all go.
Of course there will be damage and fear, pain and perhaps some will be literally taken away in her winds. I send love to those who suffer in any way and ask Irene to be kind in her desire to clear the slate.

Discover Your Psychic Type, and I took the test to see how I scored. I
scored 45 on emotional, 45 on mental, 45 on physical and 35 on spiritual.
I wanted to know how this is possible to be all of these things. Is there
not something that I am strongest in? I read the sections on each of the
three and I seem to fit all of them… do you know what would allow me to
be all of these?
Intuition is not “one size fits all”. It is as
unique as you are. My book, Discover Your Psychic Type, will
help you to understand the way your intuition naturally surfaces. There are
four different modalities through which your intuition will surface. The four
basic types are emotional, mental physical and spiritual. By taking the quiz in
the book you will become better aware of how you innately intuit and how to
further develop your natural intuitive tendencies. Just as we all have
strengths and weaknesses in the way that we learn and retain information, we
all have innate strengths and weaknesses in the way that we intuit. I can
absorb and quickly comprehend visually, yet, I easily drift off into la la land
when listening to lectures or any other kind of auditory learning. When it
comes to my intuition I naturally absorb energy information through my emotions
and my energy field. As far back into my childhood as I can remember, I knew
how others felt and I reacted to the unspoken emotions of others without being
aware that I was doing this. You too, in subtle and sometimes startling ways,
absorb intuitive information through your emotions, your thoughts, your
physical body or your energy field.
To quickly sum up the types, an emotional intuitive
naturally absorbs energy information through emotions. They are natural
empaths. Despite time and distance, they can intuit the emotions and feelings
of others, especially those they are closest to. Mental intuitives are
naturally telepathic in that they can effortlessly tune into others,
individuals or groups, thoughts and ideas. Physical intuitives absorb intuitive
energy into the body. They feel their intuition in their gut. Prone to
unconsciously taking in other’s energy, they often feel unexplained, aches and
pains, especially headaches, stomach aches and chronic tiredness. Spiritual
intuitives respond to intuitive energy through the energy field or aura. This
is the invisible electromagnetic field which surrounds all living creatures.
They likely will dream of others or future events and they may be able to
“see” or tune into angels, ghosts or loved ones on the other side.
While each intuitive type has certain typical ways of tuning
into energy information, your intuitive type also describes the way that you
connect with yourself, others, the unseen realm and the divine. For instance,
emotional intuitives are soulfully attuned to divine love and long to help and
heal others. While mental intuitives are idea and big picture people, who
understand patterns, systems and have a drive to make sense of this crazy
world. A physical intuitive is connected to the natural world and often a
champion for protecting mother earth and all of her creatures. The spiritual
intuitive lives in two worlds, the
ethereal and the physical and is often a messenger for the beyond. You
are a combination of all of these types.
The most common question that I am asked about intuitive
types is “I feel like I am intuit in more than one way” or “I
took the quiz in your book and my scores
for each type are close to one another, which type am I”?
We have a tendency to think in absolutes. “I am
this” or “I am that”. When it comes to your intuitive type you
are, in varying degrees, a combination of all four types. Your intuition does
not operate in black and white. Most likely, you will have one type that is
your primary method of intuiting, but you will also intuit through all four
types. The optimum is to be balanced and to able to consciously utilize all
four modalities of intuiting.
The key is to be conscious of how and when you are
intuiting. Intuition becomes problematic only when we are unaware of its
presence and power. For instance, an emotional intuitive is prone to feeling
and responding to others emotions without knowing that they are doing so. They
may wake in the night feeling the fear or stress of a loved one who is miles
away. Not sure of the origin of these feelings can be disconcerting and
confusing. A physical intuitive might unknowingly take on another’s headache or
get an upset stomach when a loved one is in distress. Quite often when I do
medical intuitive work, my body feels the aches and pains of the person I am
working with. A spiritual intuitive might dream of others or worldly events and
wake perplexed and unsure of why they had the dream and what to do with the
information they received. The mental intuitive who is unaware of their
intuitive modality is prone to absorbing the thoughts and ideas of others and
becoming overwhelmed with mental chatter and ADD like tendencies.
There are strengths and weakness in all four types. When you
are conscious of the way you are receiving intuitive information you can steer
clear of obstacles and sail freely into the vast sea of psychic possibilities.
