When I reflect on the past year, I realize the many lessons that came my way. One of which has been the stark awareness of my unconscious tendency to think that things are a certain way. The way I want and expect them to be. In many areas of my life, I have been jolted and awakened to other realities and truths. Truths that I would have liked to deny and dismiss.
Maybe this is what upheaval and change is all about. Its perfect ability to make us uncomfortable enough to move out of the illusionary current of complacency and assumption.
Maybe we are meant to be always on our toes. Taking in all of what routinely passes our way with fresh vision. Seeing and feeling beyond the brains tendency to blur reality like a bowl of oatmeal, into a bland blend of consistency.
This morning as I walked in the darkness just before sunrise, I asked myself, my deeper, wise self, where do I go from here? What little piece of something is my soul yearning that I acknowledge and give more life and breath to?
My soul must have been waiting for this invitation as it immediately answered.
“Live a little higher. Camp out in an enlightened perspective. Seek the clarity that comes when you let go of your stubborn desire to replace what has been lost and corral past unfulfilled wants and needs into you life. In a nutshell, up your vibration, girl. And take some others along in the process.
Of course, the soul rarely, if ever, gives a satisfying logical step by step on these things. We are left to muddle along on the lookout for the little openings where we feel more alive and our lungs expand, our bodies relax and stretch and we feel that essential intangible something that is waiting.
In this coming year, my plan is to live a little higher. Shorten the span between heaven and my everyday routines and awareness. This is where the magic happens. Along with it comes all kinds of good stuff, health, harmony, abundance and fulfilling connections.
I hope you join me on this journey. By session, class, book or in spirit. I would love the company.
We are being led. There is a presence moving through our heart, mind and soul that guides and directs us. Meaningful coincidences or synchronisities, open us to new insights and help us to understand ourselves and what is happening around us in new ways. Synchronicity is intuition expressed in the outer world.
Synchronisities are no accident. The universe has carefully orchestrated the seemingly impossible convergences of things, people, events and conditions. It does not matter how great or small the coincidence may be. We immediately recognize when we intersect with the cosmic. Although others may not always be able to feel and see it, when we are touched by the transcendent, we know it. The heart smiles, the mind opens and like an olympian gymnast, the soul joyously flips and leaps.
Synchronisities provide us with a glimpse into a reality that we have forgotten. They speak to the authentic self that is comfortable and at home in the realm of cosmic truth. Yet, despite the powerful affect that a synchronicity can have on us, we all too soon attempt to dumb it down by rationalization. We want to creep back into the logical and rational, as if the cosmic doors had not flung open. The thinking mind wants to take charge and explain away the magic and unexplainable, Don’t let it. Live with the mystery and allow it to flow through the mind, body and spirit like a healing balm. Synchronisities invite us to experience life through the cosmic portal of connection and oneness. Soak in the deep rays of the universal life force current and allow it to promote and support aspects of self that we may not always have the courage to know. Here are some suggestions that can help to increase the flow of synchronisities.
Simple, but true, when we ask for synchronisities, we experience them. As we let go of our expectations of how and when they occur, they naturally flow into our life in surprising ways. Just make the intent and allow the universe to manifest it.
How ever big, small or insignificant they may seem to be, the effect that a synchronicity has on our heart and soul is what matter. When we notice synchronisities and embrace for them, they multiply.
Imagine synchronisities as a form or communication with the universe. We don’t always notice when divine presence is answering and responding to our needs and requests. Synchronisities let us know that we are known and heard. They are a calling card informing us that we are being watched over and that we are in the flow of our soul’s current.
Synchronisities alert us to possibilities and open us to higher wisdom and love. Noticing and acting on them strengthens our soul energy and guides us into the positive. Even though life can at times, be challenging, synchronisities remind us that unexpected good fortune can come to us to in surprising ways.
Live with the awareness that a wonderful personally crafted surprise is on its way. Say, thank you, blow a big kiss and dance with the cosmic flow of the all that is. The positive and abundant energy of universal divine joy and creativity is available, wherever we are and in whatever we are doing.
Your intuition is an integral aspect of your core self. Along the journey of uncovering and claiming your authentic self, your intuition will increase. To varying degrees you may experience some of the common characteristics of intuitively sensitive people. These include, feeling other’s emotions as your own, knowing what others are thinking and having spontaneous insight into other’s health, issues and problems.
Here are a few other shared intuitive tendencies.
Feel and See Spirit Presence
Do you ever see orbs, a glow of energy around another or streaks of light? Do you ever feel that you are not alone? Have you ever felt a touch on your shoulder or hand, a warm embrace or waves of coolness or warmth? These are often signs that you are in the presence of a loving spirit. Trust your intuition. If you feel as if a family member, angel or spirit presence is with you offering love and support, try not to get caught up in doubt and questioning yourself. Feel the presence and listen and tune into any messages your may receive.
Have Premonitions of Personal and Global Events
Have you ever known when something was going to happen? Can you look at another and know their character? Have you ever felt feelings of fear, stress or grief and a day or so later a natural disaster or large scale tragedy has occurred?
Intuitively sensitive people are precognitive. You may not always know what, when and where an event will take place, but you may feel and know that something is off or is going to happen. Quite often, the emergence of sudden and intense emotions, only make sense several days later when a positive or tragic event takes place.
Oftentimes your intuition will first surface through your dreams. Because dreams are usually metaphoric and symbolic in nature, it is not always clear which dreams contain intuitive insight. If you suspect that you are having dreams that foretell future events or provide you with previously unknown information about others or events, write them down. Keep a journal of your dreams and be alert to events and experiences that confirm a dream’s content.
Heightened Awareness with all Five Senses.
Bright lights, noise, smells and even tactical sensations can be irritating and over stimulating. For instance: Artificial lighting might give you a headache. While others might enjoy the scent of a fragrance or perfume, you may feel overwhelmed and lightheaded or dizzy from it. You become anxious at the sound constant or loud noise. You need periods of silence and quiet to relax and unwind. You prefer wearing all cotton or other natural fibers. Polyester and other man-made fiber clothing can cause you to itch, scratch or break out.
Sensitive to Others Needs
You know when others are in pain, sad, depressed, struggling and what will help them. You are often drawn to those who are in need and have the knack of saying exactly what they need to hear. You are caring, warmhearted and sensitive to the needs of others. Oftentimes you would rather suffer than see those around you in pain.
Feel tired, Exhausted and May Have Trouble Sleeping
Sometimes it all becomes too much. You may feel overwhelmed by this chaotic, overstimulating and demanding world, but you do not always know how to take care of yourself. When you should be resting and recharging during sleep, you may instead be restless and toss and turn. If you are an open intuitive receptacle, other’s thoughts and feelings, may pour in while you sleep. In an effort to shut out the demands of others and decrease your sensitivity to your environment, you may try to shut down and cut yourself off from your innate sensitivities. Unfortunately, this may only increase your feelings of exhaustion and inner stress.
Have Spiritual Depth
You may not be religious or follow a particular spiritual path, yet you have a sense of knowing and connection to a greater force of love and wisdom. While others may discuss and theorize about the existence of a God or spiritual force, you may not want to join in. Your sense of spirituality is lived and experienced. You are likely to notice opportunities to act in kind and loving ways to others. You give more than you ask for and expect from others. In your heart and soul you know that your life has purpose. You may not always know what it is, but you know that you are here to be of service to others and the world.
If you are intuitively sensitive it is important to acknowledge, accept and learn how to use this innate gift for your highest good. Instead of being intuitively bombarded by the energy of others and the environment, you can instead, personally benefit and be a light of insight and service to others.
From the book: Discover Your Authentic Self, Take A Look
Things fall apart. No matter how hard we try, not everything goes the way we hoped and planned. Even when we know that disaster is looming, we cannot always prevent it. People disappoint us and do things that we do not like. We may be comfortable, feel safe and secure in the day to day ups and downs that come our way and still a surprising and unexpected event can occur and turn everything upside down. Sometimes it is not a personal problem or issue of our own that causes us distress. A friend, partner, family member, co-worker, neighbor or your community or nation, confronts a misfortunate or challenge. Yet, we find ourselves as stressed and worried as if this problem was our own. Not being able to control or effectively change a situation for another can generate feelings of powerless.
Try not to blame yourself or others or become bitter when things fall apart. This is a part of life that we will never escape. No matter what you do, how safe you play it and how intelligent and competent you are, you will at one time or another experience unexpected change. Problems get solved, but only temporarily. Other or similar ones will crop up.
When misfortune knocks on our door and rattles us to the core, there may be little left of the life that we have known. Loss of a job, a devastating health condition, divorce, financial bankruptcy or the death of a loved one, not only changes our circumstances, they can also change the way we perceive ourselves. If we recoil in fear, we feel defensive and at the mercy of a cruel fate. However, if we make space in our lives to accommodate the inevitable, we can gain a sense of mastery and strength from our challenges.
When change comes your way, you can close down in fear or you can feel the depths of your emotions and allow them to soften you. Your safety and serenity does not come about by avoiding and controlling the flow of life. Instead, you can discover calmness in the midst of the storm by accepting what is happening and embracing your feelings.
Be in present time. When you find yourself, stressing and troubled by problems and challenges, breathe and acknowledge the good that is present and be open to perceiving what is happening with a new awareness and perspective. Don’t let your concerns for the future and pain from the past, cause you to imagine the worst. Take it one step at a time, being ever mindful that challenges call forward hidden, but potent aspects of your authentic self. Even though problems may initially seem overwhelming, you can discover a strength and compassion that you did not know you had. Distressing turn of events are often a calling card from your authentic self letting you know that you are capable of so much more than you may think.
From the book, Discover Your Authentic Self
From a young age, I felt different. My tendency to know what others didn’t know, to see spirit beings and to feel others feelings, seemed to set me apart. As I got older I further explored and developed my psychic and medium abilities and better understood why I felt different. Still for years, I felt an uncomfortable chasm between myself and others that I did not want to exist. I know that this is true for many others.
If you have an interest in areas such as, spirituality and psychic and intuitive awareness, an innate understanding of energy and healing energy, have an interest in angels, spirit beings, life after death or consider yourself intuitively or emotionally sensitive, you may have felt this same way. You may have learned not to share all of your perspectives and interests with family, co-workers, some of your peers and others who you feel may judge or misunderstand you. You may have been labeled as quirky, woo-woo, one of those, flighty, spacey or at times felt an uncomfortable silence from others when you shared your perspective and truth. When this happens often enough, your authentic self, the core truth of who you are, may feel ignored, silenced, invisible and even shamed. Over time this subtly distances you from your inner source of power and sense of self.
To be free, happy and whole, you have to know and embrace all of who you are. Even those aspects that may not be understood or accepted by others. Along your journey of self-awareness and self-acceptance, delve deep into your truth. You are more than your thoughts, your emotions and your personalty likes and dislikes. There is a presence and spirit within you that wants to come to life.
I wrote the book Discover Your Authentic Self, to support you in living from your true depth of authenticity and to embrace all of who you are, while negotiating the worldly and personal challenges that inevitably come your way. It is my heart-felt wish to offer you an expanded and inclusive map to guide you through the wild ride of living fully and freely, all of who you are
Let this holiday season be a time of renewal and restoration. It is easy to get caught up in the stress and frenzy that has become routine this time of year. Cultural, family, and personal expectations often create a false ideal of what is sanely possible. Although the holidays are a time of giving, sharing, eating, enjoying and celebrating, this time of year is also celebrates of the emergence of your most powerful self.
During the winter solstice the sun is at its weakest. It has reached its most southerly point on the horizon and darkness settles in. From this long night, the light begins to once again emerge and expand. The solstice is a celebration of the return of light to the world. Three days later, on Christmas Eve, the return of the light of the divine re-emerges from within the individual. The spiritual significance of Christmas Eve is the celebration of the birth and rebirth of divine presence. It is the reminder that we are not simply physical beings. We are spirit, connected to the source of all life, creation, wisdom and love. Just as the solstice marks the time of year when the sun returns to nurture and replenish the earth, Christmas marks the return of the light of the heavens within human consciousness.
What does your intuition have to do with all of this? Your intuition is your most powerful natural wisdom. It is the voice of your spirit. It is through your spirit that the light of the divine emerges. Your intuition guides you in your everyday concerns and it is your spirit’s compass directing you into the experience of unconditional love and inner peace. It is through your intuition that you can consciously experience the true significance of the holiday season.
The Gift of Your Intuitive Type
You intuition is as unique as you are. There are four primary modalities through which we intuit. You may receive energy information through your thoughts, your emotions, through your physical body or through your energy field. I call these different ways of intuiting, your intuitive type. You may predominantly intuit through one of these types, through a combination of a couple of types or through all four types.
Emotional intuitives absorb energy information through their feelings and emotions. They are naturally empathetic and feel others feelings. They are also attuned to the vibrations of divine love.
This season, take some time to tune into your emotional energy. Emotional intuitives all too often become an emotional energy sponge, absorbing the emotions of others and of events. You are not responsible for everyone else. Be responsible for your sense of wellbeing and inner peace and allow others to take charge of their happiness.
Find a quiet place and time, close your eyes and breathe into your heart. With each breath imagine your heart expanding and filling with love. Set the intent to become aware of and release any emotional wounds and past hurts. Allow your intuition to guide you. Ask within for what needs forgiveness. Breathe into your heart and allow unconditional love to flow through you. Forgive and let go. Let the power of a greater love remind you of who you are. Breathe in this love and ask your intuition to help you to become aware of anyone that needs love. Send them the gift of unconditional love without absorbing their emotional energy.
Mental intuitives intuit through their thoughts. They are naturally telepathic and receive energy information through a sense of knowing. They are connected to truth, consciousness and can absorb divine thoughts.
In the midst of holiday expectations and what may seem like a million things to do and take care of, let your intuition guide you to your highest thoughts. Do not strive for perfection. Notice when you expect too much from yourself.
Take some time to listen within. Breathe cleansing breaths and become aware of your thoughts one after another. Do not give them too much attention, just breathe, become aware and let go. Ask within for a divine thought. Breathe and listen. Be patient and continue to ask and listen. You may hear or simply know when you receive a message from the wisdom of the heavens. It will be uplifting, simple and fill you with peace.
A physical intuitive absorbs energy information into the physical body. They often feel others ache and pains and feel energized by positive people and situations and drained and exhausted by negativity. For the physical intuitive the body is the divine temple. They perceive the spirit within physical form.
Physical intuition can be especially valuable at this time of year. With so many tempting foods to eat and tiring busy schedules we can forget to take care of ourselves. Your intuition can guide you as to how to nurture and care for you.
Your body is always communicating to you. Not only is this a time of spiritual renewal, it can also be a time for physical renewal. Ask your body what will create more joy. Perhaps a massage, a yoga class, running, dancing or sitting in a sweat or steam room will not only relax you, but awaken a sense of joy and well-being within the body.
Spiritual intuitives receive energy information through the aura of energy field. Although this might seem to be a little more abstract than the other ways of intuiting, it is quite common and natural. Spiritual intuitives tend to be more aware of the presence of loved ones on the other side, angels and spirit beings than the other types. Spiritual intuitives often intuit and receive future premonitions through their dreams.Although they may not be able to define it in words, spiritual intuitives are more aware of their spirit essence.
A hectic, busy holiday schedule with an emphasis on materialism can leave a spiritual intuitive feeling out of touch and depressed. Although all of the intuitive types need quiet and contemplative time, it is especially important that the spiritual intuitive focus within. One interesting way that a spiritual intuitive (and all the types) can experience a more spirit focused holiday is through their dreams.
Before you go to sleep, ask for a dream that will help you to experience a spiritual renewal. Ask for a Christmas, solstice or holiday dream message. You may want to write down this request and put it under your pillow. Remind yourself before you go to sleep to remember the dream. Then have paper and pen ready by your bedside to write it down as soon as you wake. Be patient. You may not dream the first or second night of your request. It may even take a week or more. But, it will happen.
This is the season of the emergence of light. Focus on what is important and the rest will take care of itself.
With many years of being a professional psychic and medium under my belt, I am more aware than ever of the distinct difference between the thinking mind and intuitive receptivity. Intuitive awareness has taught me the importance of inner stillness and how to manage emotions, disappointments, and be present. I have learned to go in the opposite direction of the thinking mind. To be less reactive and to live with what is. Intuition has led me to acceptance. Even though much of the time we are motivated to develop intuition to know more and have an advantage in our daily concerns, it mysteriously always dips us into the deeper currents where we are working out the issues of our soul.
The map through life that intuition offers is a wild adventure. Intuitive awareness is a paradoxical lover that both demands that you wrestle with your day to day issues and challenges and at the same time, laugh it all off for the wispy dream that it is. We don’t get strapped in tight for this roller coaster. Instead, the exploration of intuitive awareness soon steers us into the depths of our inner self. It implores us to look in the full length mirror of our mind, body and spirit and become aware of how well we are reflecting the true potential and majesty of our soul.
When we intuitively listen within, timeless questions come to the forefront and demand to be answered.
How do I love? Can I be kind in the face of small frustrations and meanness? Can I be myself and follow my dreams or am I easily scared into complacency and rigid adherence to societal norms and expectations? What does this world need for me to give and share?
We cannot answer these questions with only the courage and love that our human self can muster. Fortunately intuitive awareness supplies both the questions and the wisdom to answer them. It opens the door for our soul to surge forward and remind us of a truth that we may have been hiding from. We are made of the stuff of the earth, the skies and the stars. The heavens is our rightful home. Life on earth breaks us down and builds us back up many times over. Yet, within self there is a much stronger and brighter light that the world cannot touch. In this light we heal and are made strong. Your intuitive knowing is always nudging you to reclaim what has never been lost. All that we undergo, the joy, suffering, desire, confusion and stress, pushes us to perceive and embody this inner light.
Your power and true self does not live in the shadows of the world. The quality of your days, the ability to feel authentic joy and live with purpose and positivity cannot be found through searching outside of yourself. Instead, it is when we are able to listen, perceive, feel and sense that there is something more within us speaking with a still small whisper, that it all begins to make sense.
Turn away from the chaotic loud voice of the world and be present to your own profound goodness and you will find the true you. Intuition may give you insight into the many demands that you encounter each day, but it’s true purpose is to usher you into the remembrance of who you are.
